This week we had a successful mural inauguration. The mural inauguration is important as it provides an opportunity for the participants, myself, collaborating artist, school director and any other important stakeholders to recognize the work we have accomplished and acknowledge each other. I felt an immense sense of accomplishments and satisfaction during our big day. Even though we have our last touches to add to “clean up” the mural, finish details and as perfect as possible, it felt great to recognize our effort and share with the school at large. We painted Monday-Tuesday, December 9-10. On December 11, 2013 there was a school wide “fun day” and our mural inauguration/dedication. I was able to write the dedication on the wall acknowledging the vision of the project and distinguishing the key people responsible for its completion.

During the ceremony I presented a Powerpoint presentation which explained the concept of Innovative Initiatives, my and my collaborating artist’s roles and responsibilities, a description of each phase with accompanying pictures, accomplishments, and before & after pictures. The pictures really made an impact and showed the differences. So, I will show before and after pictures once we are finished with detailing the mural. Thursday and Friday after the inauguration we continued painting, yet I was not able to take pictures because my camera took a hiatus. Check out the images below. We were featured in the local newspaper Listin Diario which you can check out here.
